Joel Fights Back

This isn’t going to be one of my typical rants or discussions or ideas, but instead, is a link to a webpage posted in good cause. Naturally I found this via reddit.

Meet Joel. He’s a music-loving 25 year old graduate student at Boston University pursuing a PhD in Physics.  In 2003 he was charged with downloading 30 songs from Kazaa. He was told he could settle the case for $3,500 but called the payment hotline and offered $500. He set a money order for that amount, but it was denied.

In 2007 he received a complaint that required him to appear in court, but rather than back down, like over thirty thousand other people charged with copyright infringement each year. He’s issued a counterclaim, accusing the RIAA of abusing the federal law system and claiming that the charges are unfair and inconstitutional.

I fully agree with Joel and his defense team and wish him the best against the RIAA. I have a feeling this’ll be the biggest case of it’s kind since the Pirate Bay Trial.
